1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products

During the research and planning of my music video, I looked at various other music video for inspiration. I found serecveral videos that had shot types and editing techniques that i wanted to implement into my own video. The clip below shows my influences and how i added them into my own video. And the intertextual references to other music videos. 

In tried to follow the conventions of the genre and made an attempt to create  a link between the digipak advertisement and the actual music video

My video had a base track that gave structure to the video, this was the shot of the two artists against a graffiti background. There were several jump shots in the video, we made a jump cut to the beat of the song. As Carol Vernallis says a music video may have a obvious edit that 'draws attention to themselves' we added in a few. These were the trumpet slide at the start of every chorus this transition was unusual and added a unique element to our video. Additionally, the reverse spinning of the bikers edit drew attention to itself as it was eye catching. Lastly the edit of turning the still image to life worked well in drawing the audiences attention. 
My video followed an approach of amplification as many hip hop videos follow this type of approach so it was conventional. However we did have some forms of illustration for example the narrative of the video starting and ending with the artists watching the video.
