In A2 I feel myself and the members in my group approached the planning process in a more structured way. IN the sense that we had a production schedule, location visits, performers & equipment booked before we filmed. Whereas in AS from a personal perspective we just added ideas & thing we needed along the way, in the long run this made the thriller more difficult to film. From the beginning of our planning we always had back up plans: For example, we had two song choices with clear ideas & concepts that would happen in the videos. Once we picked our song we needed two performers & had a shortlist of four people who could perform, therefore we were prepared if one person was unable to perform. Whereas in AS I don’t think we had replacement actors for our thriller and we even had to ask someone to step in on our last day of filming to perform, so in many ways we were lucky things worked out well.
Furthermore this year we have had a shortlist of locations we could pick from. The benefit of this is that if we couldn’t film in one we had a backup plan to pick one that also matched the theme of our video. An example of this is that we planned to film in Dalston however we filmed at Rosemary Gardens that also has graffiti matching our Southbank Location. And the backup Plan for our Southbank location was Regents Canal.
So overall I feel we prepared better and were more organised with our work this year. Hopefully the improvement will be evident in our final version of our video.
