Analysis of 3 Music Videos - Influence On Our Music Video.

Three Videos

This video by Kanye West (The Good Life) has had a huge influence on the way in which we chose to edit our music video.
There are sections in the video where Kanye West opens and closes his hands where the text from the lyrics will appear and dissapear. We hope to be able to incorprate some of these techniques in our music video. For example we shall have the dancers in the chorus opening their hands and have the words 'Down with the Trumpets' appearing.

From this video we will take the idea of editing to the beat and the use of a motif. Although they have no specific motif they use a tennis ball which they use to represent time in a sense as it gets passed and thrown around into different scenes. Furthermore I very much enjoyed the editing where they slapped their faces and changed scenes to the beat of the song, I found that very effective and thought it worked excellently. We will be using our trumpet as our motif and use it to represent a fun and youthful atmosphere.

In our video the artists will be looking at the camera singing/rapping whilst having a few people behind following, inspired by JColes - Who That video. This mise en scene will represent leadership and the way in which they set trends promoting our artists as 'cool' and 'popular'. This idea was also influenced by Nas - I Can.

The way in which our artists are dressed and presented was influenced by 'New Boyz- You're a jerk' video. The 'new school' dancing will be incorporated in our video also.
